Aeropuertos Argentina, one of the top 20 companies to work for in Argentina according to Great Place to Work, a global authority on organizational culture, has carried out infrastructure works at Río Cuarto airport in Córdoba province to adapt the runway and apron for the operation of F-16 fighter jets, which were presented today by the nation's president, Javier Milei.

According to information confirmed to the Argentine News Agency, due to the operational requirements of these aircraft, it was necessary to carry out runway and header reconditioning works. Aeropuertos Argentina invested 18 million dollars, which included paving the entire 05-23 runway, upgrading the margins, and extending the headers to normalize aircraft turns.

These modifications also included the areas behind each header, intended for arrestor barriers necessary for the operation of military aircraft. The renovations were carried out using warm asphalt technology, contributing to sustainability by reducing energy consumption, CO2 emissions, and worker exposure to fumes.

Additionally, a comprehensive reconditioning of the airport's lighting system was completed, raising operational safety and energy efficiency standards. The power boards were renewed, 200 state-of-the-art LED lights were installed on runway and taxiway edges, and 9 luminous signs for critical operational zones were added, along with the renewal of the entire electrical wiring to power these new systems, which also contribute to energy efficiency and reduce technological waste.

Alongside these works, Aeropuertos Argentina is working on a project to refurbish the passenger terminal to add services and comfort for users. The main intervention will focus on the check-in hall and the checkpoint of the Airport Security Police (PSA), expanding the current building's surface area by 15% and optimizing over 140m² of existing space, including a new facade for the terminal building entrance.
